Hormonal drugs

Today, hormonal drugs and hormone therapy have become an obligatory component of modern human life.

Insulin, adrenaline, anabolic steroids, hormonal contraceptives are quite firmly entrenched in our daily existence, and for some the use of such therapy is inevitable.

Hormonal drugs occupy one of the most important places in medicine in the treatment of a variety of diseases, and are also often used as contraceptives and in sports practice.

Constant replenishment of the list of hormonal drugs is caused by the intensive study and expansion of understanding of the synthesis, metabolism and mechanisms of action of certain hormones.

Depending on the chemical structure, all hormones are divided into:

  1. steroids - estriol, estradiol, testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, progesterone, cortisol, aldosterone, dihydroepiandrosterone, etc;
  2. proteins - prolactin, insulin, growth hormone, placental lactogen;

  4. peptides - hypothalamic liberins and statins, angiotensin II, oxytocin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, vasopressin, yS-2-endorphin, enkephalins, pancreatic polypeptide, etc;
  5. amino acid derivatives - histamine, serotonin, adrenaline, noradrenaline, acetylcholine, melatonin, dopamine, u-aminobutyric acid, acetylserotonin, etc;
  6. fatty acid derivatives - leukotrienes, thromboxanes, prostaglandins, prostacyclin, which are products of arachidonic acid metabolism (some specialists define them as tissue hormones).
